Three More Jewish Homes Join the “100 Mezuzot for 100 Homes” Project

We have already reported on the launch of the large-scale project “100 Mezuzot for 100 Homes” initiated by the Jewish Community of Dnipro. On the eve of the Shavuot holiday, mezuzot were installed in three more Jewish homes.

During the first phase of the project, mezuzot were installed in the homes of internally displaced persons and other vulnerable categories participating in charitable programs coordinated by Rivka Lazareva. Now, mezuzot are being placed in the homes of participants in other initiatives of the Dnipro Jewish Community. These families were recommended for the program by the Lubavitcher Rebbe’s emissaries and activists involved in the Jewish revival.

Rabbi Reuven Milman, who conducts educational outreach in the central synagogue “Golden Rose” and helps many people draw closer to the world of Yiddishkeit, identified three families whose homes did not yet have a mezuzah. Thanks to the “100 Mezuzot for 100 Homes” initiative, mezuzot were installed in the homes of the Lazarenko, Zinger, and Pavlov families. As in previous cases, the mezuzot were affixed by Yosef Yitzchak Zhilin, a student at the yeshiva named after Rabbi Levi Yitzchak Schneerson. Rabbi Reuven Milman attended the inspiring ceremony and shared in the joy of the Jewish families who welcomed their very first mezuzah into their home.

It is worth recalling that the idea for this project originated with one of the Rebbe’s emissaries in Dnipro, Rabbi Akiva Romanovsky. While lighting Hanukkah candles in the homes of local Jews, he noticed that many of them still did not have mezuzot. The Jewish Community of Dnipro embraced this initiative, a sponsor was found, and the mezuzot are now being prepared under the supervision of Ukraine’s Chief Sofer, Rabbi Reuven Margolin. The project is carried out in the merit of Eliezer Abramenko, Levi Yitzchak Abramenko, Reuven Kaminezki, Menachem Mendel Kaminezki, Yosef Yitzchak Kaminezki, Tzvi-Hirsch ben Leah, and Igor ben Zoya. At this stage, one mezuzah is installed per apartment, and one hundred Jewish homes in Dnipro will receive their own sacred scroll — a meaningful contribution to spreading the light of Yiddishkeit.
