The Kashrut Department of Dnipro Jewish Community Launches the “Kosher Dnipro” App

A new convenient service has been launched by the Kashrut Department of Dnipro Jewish Community — a mobile application called “Kosher Dnipro”, which makes it easy and quick to access information about the kosher status of various products sold in Ukrainian retail chains.

The Kashrut Department’s announcement reads:

“We are pleased to announce that the ‘Kosher Dnipro’ app is now available for download!

Our goal is to make the process of checking the kosher status of products in Ukrainian supermarkets simple and accessible.

The app allows users to quickly obtain information about a product’s kosher status.

At this initial stage, you can:

  • scan the barcode of any product;
  • if the product is already in our database, its status will appear as: permitted, not permitted, or conditional;
  • if the product is not in the database, the app will suggest that you take a photo of it and submit it for review.

The more actively you use the app and scan products, the more useful it will become for everyone.

The app currently supports the following status labels:

  1. Permitted – the product has been checked and fully meets kashrut standards.
  2. Not Permitted – the product contains or has come into contact with non-kosher ingredients.
  3. Conditionally Permitted – the product is permitted under certain conditions (details are provided under the status).
  4. Not Recommended – the product does not contain non-kosher components, but there are other concerns (e.g., chalav nochri, pat akum, etc.), insufficient data to confirm kosher status, or a risk of contact with problematic ingredients.

The app is completely free!

This project was made possible with the support of Dnipro Jewish Community and private donors.

We welcome your feedback and suggestions for improving the app. Please share it with your friends!
