DJCY-STL-STARS Dnipro Reflects on Tishrei and Begins Preparing for Hanukkah

Students from the “DJCY-STL-STARS Dnipro” youth project of the Dnipro Jewish Community, implemented with the support of STL, held a special meeting dedicated to summarizing the projects of the month of Tishrei and beginning preparations for the holiday of Hanukkah.

“We had special projects for ‘DJCY-STL-STARS Dnipro’ students to participate in community events timed for each occasion of Tishrei, from Rosh Hashanah to Simchat Torah,” said Chaya Maltseva, head of the “DJCY-STL-STARS Dnipro” project. “Now we have summarized the results, and each student shared how they connected with the community’s life, what they did for each holiday, and how they contributed to spreading the light of Yiddishkeit during this special period.”

A significant number of new participants have recently joined the “DJCY-STL-STARS Dnipro” program and are now beginning to familiarize themselves with the specifics and advantages of this system of informal Jewish education, which is combined with maximum active participation in the life of the Dnipro Jewish Community.

“We have already started preparing for Hanukkah—discussing, planning, and dreaming,” continued Chaya Maltseva. “Each group was tasked with envisioning a celebration in an ‘unlimited’ format regarding finances, resources, and possibilities—essentially, to ‘create a fairy tale.’ Now we are returning to reality and will develop our Hanukkah celebration, which I am confident we can bring to life thanks to the support of the Dnipro Jewish Community and its Chief Rabbi, Shmuel Kaminezki.”
