Students of the youth project “DJCY-STL-STARS Dnipro” of the Jewish Community of Dnipro, supported by STL, took an active part in the All-Ukrainian Passover Student Camp held by the “Stars Ukraine” organization in Kyiv.
A total of 40 young men and women from all over Ukraine took part in the camp, and more than a quarter of them came from Dnipro, representing “DJCY-STL-STARS Dnipro.” Moreover, two students from the Dnipro team, Adina Seldina and Beyla Letychevska, served as madrichot and led both educational and entertainment programs of the camp, which aimed to strengthen Jewish identity and unity among young Jews who are conscious of their heritage and traditions.
“Every day, Rabbi Pinchas Vishedsʹky, the director of ‘Stars Ukraine’, led classes on various Talmudic discussions about Passover, as well as on the Omer counting and the personal traits we strive to refine during the period from Passover to Shavuot,” shared Adina Seldina. “During Chol HaMoed mornings, there were also special classes for girls on the importance of the role of women in Jewish culture.”
The entertainment program of the camp was also vibrant and engaging, with excursions and games, all conducted in full accordance with the traditions and requirements of Passover, on a very high spiritual level. “We went to Mezhyhirya, a safari park, an escape room, a museum in the dark, and even played paintball,” Adina added. “Among the activities were speed and team-building games, a ‘Wine-o-ping’ quiz, musical bingo, the ‘Bla Bla Show’, and the role-playing game ‘Spy’. These were all ways for participants to get to know each other better, meet Jewish youth from other cities, and just have fun.”
