“DJCY-STL-STARS Dnipro” Youth Project Begins Pesach Preparations

At the “DJCY-STL-STARS Dnipro” youth project of the Dnipro Jewish Community, implemented with the support of STL, preparations for the holiday of Pesach have begun. Each session within the program is dedicated to studying its content, traditions, and laws. Project participants immerse themselves in the theme of one of the most significant events in Jewish history, which became the foundation for the formation of the Jewish people and its unique identity.

Preparation for Pesach is a time that requires attention to detail, a deep understanding of tradition, and a conscious approach to fulfilling the mitzvos. During the sessions, students become acquainted with the story of the Exodus from Egypt, the meaning of freedom and responsibility, as well as the practical aspects of preparing for the holiday, which find their continuation in the real life of the community.

Traditionally, participants of the “DJCY-STL-STARS Dnipro” project actively take part in the Pesach celebration within the Dnipro Jewish Community. They participate in Seders, notably serving as leaders at the main community Seder held in the world’s largest Jewish center, “Menorah,” which gathers hundreds of families. The students not only study the laws and meaning of the holiday but also share their knowledge and understanding of Pesach with others, contributing to the strengthening of Jewish tradition, bringing them closer to Yiddishkeit, Chassidus, Torah, and good deeds.

“It is important to us that the participants of our project not only study Jewish tradition but also put their acquired knowledge into practice by actively participating in the life of the community and the celebration of Pesach,” says Chaya Maltseva, director of the “DJCY-STL-STARS Dnipro” project. “We see that the students engage with interest in the learning process, and their level of preparation and involvement allows them not only to understand the meaning of the holiday more deeply but also to share this understanding with their families, feeling themselves part of the united and cohesive Dnipro Jewish Community under the leadership of its Chief Rabbi, Shmuel Kaminezki, thereby contributing to bringing about the complete and final Redemption.”
