Students of the Jewish Community of Dnipro’s youth project “DJCY-STL-STARS Dnipro,” supported by STL, took part in a special session dedicated to exploring the motivation behind fulfilling mitzvot (commandments).
As the program director Chaya Maltseva shared, participants watched a documentary about young people from non-religious families who were taken hostage by Hamas and nevertheless made efforts to observe Jewish commandments—such as saying the “Shema,” keeping Shabbat, and more. The screening was followed by an engaged discussion.
Afterward, teacher and mashpia Yosef Nachshon presented the deeper meaning behind the mitzvah of “Sefirat HaOmer,” which further inspired the students to observe it with intention and care. The evening concluded with heartfelt birthday wishes for Mazal (Daryna) Kyslenko, who generously offered a warm blessing to everyone present.
