A vibrant Purim celebration took place at the “DJCY-STL-STARS Dnipro” youth project of the Dnipro Jewish Community, implemented with the support of STL. The event brought together program participants in an atmosphere of joy, friendship, and observance of the traditions of this most joyous holiday on the Jewish calendar.
A youth Purim party was organized for the project’s students, featuring a fun program with contests, gifts, and prizes. The participants not only had the opportunity to socialize and spend time together but also to fulfill the primary mitzvos of Purim.
One of the important parts of the program was the fulfillment of the mitzvah of reading the Megillah. The Megillah was read by David Maltsev, and all those present listened attentively to the story of the salvation of the Jewish people. The project participants also fulfilled other important mitzvos – giving tzedakah to help those in need and exchanging mishloach manos, as everyone had prepared festive treats and gifts for their friends.
The evening concluded with a special Purim feast accompanied by a very fun and engaging program prepared by the project’s madrichim, Eliyahu Ivakhnenko and Leah Lazareva. Various activities and contests were held for the students, creating the atmosphere of a true youth celebration.
“It is important to us that the participants of the ‘DJCY-STL-STARS Dnipro’ project not only learn about Jewish tradition but also live it together, through the joy of holidays and participation in community life,” says Chaya Maltseva, director of the “DJCY-STL-STARS Dnipro” project. “Such gatherings help young people feel themselves part of the united and cohesive Dnipro Jewish Community under the leadership of its Chief Rabbi, Shmuel Kaminezki.”
