A special event dedicated to the “Sheva Brachos” ceremony for David Yisroel and Kerren Raizel Cherkassky, held during the first week after their Chuppah, took place at the “DJCY-STL-STARS Dnipro” youth project of the Dnipro Jewish Community, implemented with the support of STL.
The ceremony was held in the informal education space on the eighth floor of the world’s largest Jewish center, “Menorah,” and served as a continuation of the wedding celebrations, during which the seven blessings are recited for the newlyweds throughout the week following the wedding. The event was attended by students of the program, who together with the young family shared the joy of this important milestone in their lives.
The evening’s program included the traditional elements of Sheva Brachos – the recitation of the seven blessings, a Dvar Torah, as well as warm socializing, songs, and dancing, which created an atmosphere of unity and sincere joy. The participants not only witnessed the important occasion but also actively took part in what was happening, feeling their connection to Jewish tradition and community life.
“Hosting the ‘Sheva Brachos’ within our program serves as yet another example of how the community’s educational initiatives organically integrate with the living practice of Jewish life, allowing the younger generation not only to study tradition but to become its direct participants,” says Chaya Maltseva, director of the “DJCY-STL-STARS Dnipro” project. “Our students joyfully celebrated with David and Raizel, rejoicing in the establishment of a new family on the solid foundation of Torah and mitzvos in the light of Chassidic teaching, for this event is a great joy for our entire united and cohesive Dnipro Jewish Community under the leadership of its Chief Rabbi, Shmuel Kaminezki.”
