Students of the “DJCY-STL-STARS Dnipro” Youth Project Visit Exhibition at the Jewish Museum

Students of the “DJCY-STL-STARS Dnipro” youth project of the Dnipro Jewish Community, implemented with the support of STL, visited a special exhibition at the Museum “Jewish Memory and Holocaust in Ukraine” titled “Remarkable Women Who Survived the Holocaust.” The exhibition is dedicated to women who endured the horrors of Nazi terror and, after the war, made significant contributions to world civilization.

Program participants explored the exhibition, which tells the personal stories of women who survived the Holocaust, their trials in ghettos and death camps, and how, despite their experiences, they found the strength to rebuild their lives and achieve fulfillment, becoming leaders, scientists, artists, and human rights defenders.

A special part of the visit was the screening of a thematic film that complements the exhibition and allows for a deeper understanding of the historical context and the personal experiences of the heroines. The students received this visual narrative with great attention and emotional resonance, which enhanced their impression of the exhibition.

“It is important to us that such visits and engagement with the Museum be part of the educational process and contribute to the formation of the Jewish identity of our project’s participants,” says Chaya Maltseva, director of the “DJCY-STL-STARS Dnipro” project. “We see that the students are genuinely interested in such programs, and the Museum’s research staff note their high level of preparedness. This helps the youth deepen their awareness of their connection to history and feel themselves part of the united and cohesive Dnipro Jewish Community under the leadership of its Chief Rabbi, Shmuel Kaminezki.”
