Students of the youth project of the Jewish community of Dnipro “DJCY-STL-STARS Dnipro”, implemented with the support of STL, visited the famous Dnipro matzoh bakery “Tiferet Matzot” on the eve of Passover.
“We were very hospitably greeted, and Reb Dovid Yudovich gave us a wonderful tour, thanks to which everyone was able to see all the stages of making matzoh shmura with the highest level of kosher,” says Haya Maltseva, head of DJCY-STL-STARS Dnipro. ”The boys and girls closely watched how the dough was kneaded, how each piece of matzoh was rolled out, and how it was put into the oven to become the Bread of Freedom. It was important for the students not only to learn about this from the texts, but also to see it with their own eyes, especially how strictly the time is controlled: from the moment the flour and water are mixed until it is fully baked, not a single extra second over the prescribed eighteen minutes should pass.”
The students of DJCY-STL-STARS Dnipro had the opportunity to talk to the matzoh bakery employees and learn about how they perceive the importance of their mission and their personal responsibility to ensure that tens of thousands of Jews around the world can fulfill the commandments during the Seder and the entire Passover holiday as kosher as possible.
