The evening, when the fast of Esther ended and the holiday of Purim began, was held in the project of the Jewish community of Dnipro “DJCY-STL-STARS Dnipro”, implemented with the support of STL, in the style of the 80s, and this festive party was organized in the space of informal education on the 8th floor of the Menorah center.
“Stars students carefully, for several weeks, prepared for this event, studied the laws related to Purim and Megilat Esther, the text of the Suva Esther itself, most of them kept the fast of Esther,” says the head of “DJCY-STL-STARS Dnipro” Chaya Maltseva, “reading the Suva was very interesting for us, because the boys and girls listened and followed the reading very consciously and it was a truly thorough fulfillment of the commandment. We were visited by such respected people as Ms. Tzipora Nachshon and her parents, the rabbi and rebbetzin of Maidanchika, and the reading of the Suva was conducted by my son, David Maltsev.”
After the reading, a lesson on the commandment, Shelokhmunes, was held, and the students prepared Mishloach Manot to send to friends on Purim. And the party continued, and the festive atmosphere in the Stars project was created in the style of the 80s of the last century.
“We made a nice treat, which, of course, is different from what should be arranged directly on Purim day, but thanks to the Jewish Community of Dnipro and our dear friends, such as Elisha Gabriel Pavlotsky, Malka Gorodnytska and Vlad Shtipelman, we were able to organize a holiday at the highest level,” continues Chaya Maltseva, “the 80s style was very appropriate, for example, the guys prepared a quiz based on films, music, and fashion of the 1980s, and implemented questions related to Jewish tradition into it, for example, about the fact that it was in the 80s that the Lubavitcher Rebbe initiated the “Mitzvah Tank” program, which was headed in Israel by Rabbi David Nachshon, the grandfather of our project teacher and mashpi Yosef Nachshon.”
