The main Purim of Dnipro – five readings of the Book of Esther at the same time!

The grand Purim celebration in the Jewish community of Dnipro took place in the Menorah Grand Palace celebration house, where everyone was met and greeted by hospitable and charming employees of the community office and numerous life-size dolls that created a festive and fabulous atmosphere.

After taking pictures, everyone went up to the main place of the holiday, the Grand Hall, where the evening prayer of the Maariv was first held, and after its completion, the first simultaneous reading of the Book of Esther was arranged in five locations of the huge hall. This was done so that everyone present could hear every word well and thus carefully fulfill the commandment of listening to the Megillat Esther, which is the first and main commandment of this holiday.

The reading of the Suva Esther in the central location was conducted by Rabbi Reuven Kaminetsky, son of the Chief Rabbi of Dnipro and the region Shmuel Kaminetsky, and the readings in other locations of the Menorah Grand Hall were conducted by: Rabbi Menachem Mendel Feldman, Rabbi Meir Stambler, Rabbi Moishe Neuman and David Maltsev.

“Tradition requires that every word of the Suva Esther be heard live, without the use of microphones and sound amplification devices,” said Zelig Brez, director of the Jewish community of Dnipro, “so this year we decided to make sure that the Megillat Esther was read in different corners of the large hall and that everyone had the opportunity to hear every word well. There were also enough printed copies of the text so that everyone could follow along, not only listening, but also reading.”

When the reading of the Suvah of Esther was completed, the guests took their places at luxuriously set tables with kosher treats and drinks, and a grand festive program began, which we will tell about in the next news.
