A New Educational Season Has Begun in the “Avot uBanim” Program

The Jewish Community of Dnipro held the first gathering of the new educational season of 5787 within the framework of the “Avot uBanim” (“Fathers and Sons”) program, aimed at strengthening the tradition of joint Torah study by parents and sons and the transmission of Jewish knowledge and values from generation to generation.

The gathering took place in the main prayer hall of the Central “Golden Rose” Synagogue. The “Avot uBanim” program, led by Rabbi David Vaskovsky, occupies an important place in the system of traditional Jewish education, for joint classes enable parents not only to pass on to their children knowledge of the sacred texts but also to show by their own example the significance of Torah study in the daily life of a Jewish family.

“We invite all fathers to come to the classes together with their sons, for regular joint Torah study is not merely an opportunity to acquire new knowledge but also an extraordinarily important component of Jewish education that strengthens the spiritual connection between generations,” noted Rabbi David Vaskovsky, director of the “Avot uBanim” program. “It is precisely such traditions that help raise the new generation of Jews, for whom the study of Torah and the observance of mitzvos become a natural part of life, and therein lies one of the most important tasks of our united and cohesive Jewish Community of Dnipro under the leadership of Chief Rabbi Shmuel Kaminezki.”
