A farbrengen dedicated to the birthday of Rebbetzin Chaya Mushka Schneerson – daughter of the Sixth Lubavitcher Rebbe, Yosef Yitzchak Schneerson, and wife of the Seventh Lubavitcher Rebbe, Menachem Mendel Schneerson – took place at the Rabbi Levi Yitzchak Schneerson Yeshiva Ktana, the leading educational institution for boys of the Dnipro Jewish Community. The students gathered together to mark this special date, learn more about the Rebbetzin’s life, and feel connected to the spiritual legacy of the Rebbe’s family.
At the beginning of the gathering, the boys recited psukim, and then watched a video of the Leader of our generation, the Seventh Lubavitcher Rebbe, Menachem Mendel Schneerson. A special part of the program was a talk by Rebbetzin Chana Kaminezki, who shared with the students her personal memories of meeting Rebbetzin Chaya Mushka and recounted several stories she had personally experienced. For the students, this was a rare opportunity to hear living testimony about the great tzadekes, and the boys listened to the stories with great interest and attention.
During the farbrengen, the students were also informed about the start of a new mivtza dedicated to preparing for the 11th of Nissan – the birthday of the Lubavitcher Rebbe. Over the course of two weeks, the boys will memorize lines from the Tanya and perform special daily tasks. Upon completion of the campaign, the ten students who memorize the greatest number of lines will receive prizes; separate awards will be prepared for those who complete at least ninety percent of the daily tasks; and the winning class will go on a special excursion.
“We are very happy that we were able to invite Rebbetzin Chana Kaminezki to share her memories of Rebbetzin Chaya Mushka with the students – this is our first such experience, and it proved to be very important and inspiring for the boys,” noted Rabbi David Vaskovsky, director of “Tzivos Hashem” at the Yeshiva Ktana. “Such gatherings help the boys feel a living connection with the generation of the Rebbe and the Rebbetzin, and the new mivtza for the 11th of Nissan will provide them with an additional incentive to deepen their study of Torah and Chassidus. We thank the Dnipro Jewish Community and its Chief Rabbi, Shmuel Kaminezki, for their constant support and for the opportunity to educate our students in the spirit of Torah and Chassidic tradition.”
