Model Seder at the “Chaya Mushka” Machon

At the “Chaya Mushka” Machon, the leading educational institution for girls of the Jewish community of Dnipro, a special model Seder was held as an important part of the students’ preparation for the upcoming festival of Pesach. As the Lubavitcher Rebbe emphasized, it is essential that every Jewish child not only attends the Seder together with their family, but also understands its meaning, prepares for it, knows each element and its order, and takes part in educational or model Seders under the guidance of teachers and mentors before the holiday.

During the session, the girls were immersed in the atmosphere of the Seder, going through its order step by step with detailed explanations. Seated at tables, they had Seder plates (ke’arot) and the necessary items laid out before them, which they prepared themselves while learning about their meaning and purpose. This format allowed them not only to observe, but also to gain practical familiarity with the key elements of the festive meal.

The program was accompanied by educational materials that helped guide the participants through each stage of the Seder and understand what takes place during every part. The girls studied the structure, content, and deeper meaning of the Seder, and actively participated in modeling its main elements, including the use of juice as one of the attributes of the meal.

The session was carefully designed so that each student could not only become acquainted with the tradition, but also be fully prepared to take part in Pesach Seders both within their families and at events of the Jewish community of Dnipro, with a clear understanding and a meaningful personal connection to what is taking place. The model Seder was led by teachers Adel Shikula and Dvora Neuman, who created an atmosphere of attentive learning, engagement, and thoughtful exploration of the tradition.

“This is an important part of preparing for the holiday of Pesach,” noted Machon director Rachel Milman. “Such sessions help the girls not only learn the order of the Seder, but also participate in it consciously, with an understanding of its meaning and significance. We are sincerely grateful to the united and close-knit Jewish community of Dnipro, under the leadership of Chief Rabbi Shmuel Kaminezki, and to our dear Rebbetzin Chana Kaminezki for their constant support and care for the education of the younger generation.”
