A new season of the “Bnot Melech” project has begun at the “Chaya-Mushka” Machon, the leading educational institution of the Dnipro Jewish Community for girls, designed to nurture true Jewish princesses in its 5th and 6th-grade students.
This year, the project leader is the young and talented teacher Zivi Smilyanska, who prepared the first lesson, dedicating it to the relationship between Chassidim and their spiritual leader – the Rebbe. Before the lesson began, all the girls watched a video of the Rebbe speaking about the special qualities of this time of year we are in and the importance of self-improvement.
Next, each girl received material with a story about how the future Fifth Lubavitcher Rebbe, Sholom Dov Ber Schneerson, as a child, played “Rebbe and Chassid” with his brother. They then discussed why the young Sholom Dov Ber did not fulfill the tikkun that his “Rebbe” in the game gave him. After discussing the material, the girls were also invited to play this exciting game themselves. Those who played the role of the “Rebbe” sighed sincerely, as this was one of the signs that the Rebbe truly understands the soul and all the problems of his Chassid.
This was followed by a fun game where answering questions involved jumping: a jump forward meant “yes,” and a jump backward meant “no.” The girls demonstrated a very high level of knowledge of Jewish tradition, rarely making mistakes even on the most difficult questions.
The first meeting of the new season of the “Bnot Melech” project concluded with the distribution of sheets containing special tasks for the month of Tishrei. For completing the tasks, the girls will receive points, and those who easily manage the main tasks will be able to complete bonus tasks and earn even more points.
“The new project leader, Zivi Smilyanska, handled this challenging task very well, developing the concept and conducting the first lesson,” said the Machon’s director, Rachel Milman. “Such projects are extremely important for the educational process, and their successful implementation, like all activities of the ‘Chaya-Mushka’ Machon, is possible only thanks to the support of the Dnipro Jewish Community and its Chief Rabbi, Shmuel Kaminezki.”
