Preparation for Shavuot at Machon Chaya-Mushka

A special program in preparation for the Shavuot holiday took place at Machon “Chaya-Mushka,” the leading educational institution for girls of the Dnipro Jewish Community. The program was organized by teachers of tradition and Hebrew, Mariashi Heifer and Devorah Neumann, together with ninth-grade students. The rich program allowed the Machon students not only to learn more about the significance of the holiday of the Giving of the Torah but also to deepen their understanding of various aspects of Torah study and transmission in an engaging format.

At the beginning of the event, the girls were invited to the gymnasium, where a delicious dairy buffet with various dishes and desserts connected to the traditions of the Shavuot holiday was prepared for them. After this, the main part of the program began, built around the idea of the different stages of the revelation of the Torah to the Jewish people.

A separate symbolic activity was prepared for each theme. The theme of the Written Torah was addressed through the study of a sicha of the Rebbe on the topic of Shavuot. The participants then moved on to the theme of the Oral Torah, for which the game “broken telephone” was chosen, vividly demonstrating the process of transmitting knowledge from person to person. The next stage was the Torah of Chassidus, which reveals the importance of the unity of the Jewish people. For this theme, a bingo game was organized, during which each girl first wrote down the features and qualities she wanted to share about herself, and then the participants had to identify from the descriptions who was being referred to. The final theme was the Torah of Geulah, connected with the future Redemption and the time of the coming of the righteous Moshiach, to which a dance element of the program was dedicated.

Thanks to this format, the girls were able not only to become acquainted with important concepts and understand the characteristics of different stages and aspects of the revelation of the spiritual depths of the Torah but also to experience them through personal participation, interaction, and shared activity.

“Preparing for Shavuot is not only about becoming familiar with the traditions of the holiday but also an opportunity to help the girls feel a personal connection to the Torah and understand its significance in their lives,” said Raizel Milman, director of the Machon. “We are sincerely grateful to the united and cohesive Dnipro Jewish Community under the leadership of Chief Rabbi Shmuel Kaminezki and our dear Rebbetzin Chana Kaminezki for their constant support and attention to the education of the younger generation.”
