Hanukkah events have commenced at the “Chaya-Mushka” Machon, the leading educational institution of the Dnipro Jewish Community for girls. On the first day of the holiday, a warm and creative lesson took place, opening the Hanukkah week and giving the students an opportunity not only to learn more about Hanukkah traditions but also to feel its special atmosphere through collaborative creativity.
The first Hanukkah candle at the “Chaya-Mushka” Machon was lit by the secretary of the Dnipro Rabbinical Court, Rabbi Schneur Zalman Futerfas. Afterwards, the girls participated in a festive workshop. Each participant received a piece of parchment, multicolored candies, and Hanukkah illustrations, on which they needed to arrange the sweet elements and then carefully iron them. As a result, the girls created bright and unusual sweet compositions, featuring doughnuts, menorahs, dreidels (sevivonim), and candles.
This activity became not only a fun and tasty start to the holiday but also a unique way to experience the Hanukkah days, combining learning, creativity, and the joy of shared celebration. The opening of the Hanukkah week at the “Chaya-Mushka” Machon passed in a warm, inspired atmosphere, setting the tone for all the subsequent days of Hanukkah.
“It is very important for us that the girls experience Hanukkah not only as a lesson story but as a living holiday filled with light, joy, and meaning,” said the morah (teacher) Edna Yudovich. “We sincerely thank you for the opportunity to conduct such events with the support of the united and cohesive Dnipro Jewish Community and its Chief Rabbi, Shmuel Kaminezki.”
