The “Yom LeChodesh” Pre-Holiday Campaign Begins at Mahon “Chaya-Mushka”

In preparation for the approaching holiday of Rosh Ha-Shanah, a special campaign called “Yom LeChodesh” (translated as “A Day for a Month”) has launched at Mahon “Chaya-Mushka,” the leading educational institution of the Dnipro Jewish Community for girls.

The campaign will last for the twelve days leading up to Rosh Ha-Shanah, with each day dedicated to a specific month of the year. The girls receive special cards and tasks, as according to Jewish tradition, the period of preparation for Rosh Ha-Shanah is a crucial time for self-analysis, re-evaluating everything that was done incorrectly or not well enough in the passing year, and making a firm resolution to improve in the new year.

“Every day, the girls receive a card with the name of a month and must recall what happened during it, evaluate their own actions specifically in that month, and determine what they need to do in the same month of the coming year to refine themselves and become better,” explains Moreh Shaina Smilyanska. “This self-analysis, known as ‘Cheshbon HaNefesh,’ is a very important part of Jewish spiritual practice in preparing for Rosh Ha-Shanah. The campaign, initiated by Esther Kaminezki and Chana Stambler, will assist our girls during this significant period.”
