At the Jewish Medical Center “JMC,” one of the most important medical and social institutions of the Jewish Community of Dnipro, a Women’s Health Day was held, organized on the initiative of the All-Ukrainian Jewish Women’s Organization “Project Kesher” within the framework of the “Rozhovten” campaign, dedicated to raising awareness about breast diseases, their prevention, and early diagnosis. Thanks to the cooperation of “Project Kesher” and the JMC medical center, 97 women received the opportunity to undergo free examinations and consultations with qualified specialists.
Taking part in the Women’s Health Day were oncologist-mammologists Kateryna Romanukha and Vyacheslav Nezamay, as well as obstetrician-gynecologist Dmytro Terzi. The specialists conducted examinations and consultations, giving special attention to the timely detection of breast diseases and other issues of women’s health.
An especially important result of the campaign was the detection in four participants of serious pathological changes at an early stage. Thanks to the timely examination, these women received the opportunity to begin the necessary treatment without waiting for the further development of the disease. It is precisely early diagnosis that in many cases makes it possible to significantly increase the effectiveness of medical care and offers greater opportunities for successful treatment.
The “Rozhovten” campaign, implemented by the All-Ukrainian Jewish Women’s Organization “Project Kesher,” became part of the global month of drawing attention to the problem of breast cancer. Its main task is to remind women of the necessity of regular preventive examinations, attentive treatment of their health, and timely consultation with specialists. For “Project Kesher,” this work holds special significance, since the accessibility of quality medical care and the support of women’s health are important areas of its activity.
The cooperation of “Project Kesher” with the Jewish Medical Center “JMC” has continued for many years. During this time, hundreds of women have received the opportunity to undergo free examinations, and, as noted at “Project Kesher,” those of them in whom pathological changes were detected in past years fully recovered after treatment, and now not even a trace of the formidable disease remains. Thus, Women’s Health Day has become not a one-time event but a continuation of an already established charitable tradition.
“It is especially joyful for us that this year almost one hundred women took part in the campaign, and it is very important that thanks to the examinations, serious health problems were detected in time in four of them,” says Ella Goncharova, manager of “Project Kesher.” “It is especially touching to see those in whom pathological changes were previously detected, and today they come for examination entirely healthy. For ‘Project Kesher’ it is fundamentally important that this campaign is conducted on a charitable basis and all women can undergo examination free of charge at one of the best clinics in Dnipro and Ukraine – the Jewish Medical Center ‘JMC.’ From the bottom of my heart and on behalf of all of ‘Project Kesher,’ I sincerely thank the JMC medical center and its director, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Alexander Rodinsky, for many years of cooperation, and I am very proud that such unique campaigns can take place thanks to the attention and support of the united and cohesive Jewish Community of Dnipro under the leadership of Chief Rabbi Shmuel Kaminezki.”
