At the Beit Tzindlicht Children’s Educational Center—the main preschool institution of the Jewish Community of Dnipro—the final classes in preparation for Shavuot have taken place. These sessions focused on important aspects and traditions of the holiday.
The lessons were held in groups. While previous classes introduced the children to the Giving of the Torah, the selection of Mount Sinai, and the spiritual meaning of the holiday, this time the emphasis was on dairy products—one of the children’s favorite symbols of Shavuot.
“The kids drew pictures of ice cream, learned about different types of dairy products, and even ‘milked’ a cow,” shared Malka Averbukh, a preschool teacher. “This time we focused specifically on this theme, and the children were very excited to learn where the tradition of eating dairy on Shavuot comes from and the meanings behind it.”
The young students of Beit Tzindlicht are eagerly awaiting the start of the holiday, convinced that they’ll enjoy delicious kosher ice cream and many other surprises prepared for them by the adults united in the strong and caring Jewish Community of Dnipro.
