Celebrating Tu BiShvat at the Kindergarten

A bright and joyous Tu BiShvat celebration took place at the “Beit Zindlicht” Children’s Educational Center, the leading preschool institution of the Dnipro Jewish Community. The day was filled with delicious discoveries, creativity, and an exciting introduction to Jewish traditions.

The central event of the day was the festive Tu BiShvat Seder. The children tasted tree fruits, learned to recite blessings, and in an accessible form, learned about the seven species of Eretz Yisrael, which hold special significance in the Jewish tradition. Through taste, storytelling, and shared participation, the students were able to feel a connection to the Land of Israel and gain a deeper understanding of the meaning of the holiday of trees and the renewal of nature.

The celebration continued with creative and playful activities. The children happily participated in active tasks related to the themes of nature and growth, and they also prepared festive gifts by hand, trying to imbue them with warmth and good cheer. This format allowed the children not only to learn new facts but also to experience the essence of the holiday through action, play, and personal involvement. The celebration turned out to be warm, tasty, and truly joyful, leaving the children with bright impressions and a sense of belonging to Jewish traditions.

“The Tu BiShvat celebration took place in a very lively and understandable form for children, through taste, play, and creativity,” noted kindergarten teacher Naomi Chaya Yavorskaya. “Such events help young children, from an early age, to feel the beauty of the world created by Hashem and to realize their inseparable connection with centuries-old Jewish tradition, their people, and our united and cohesive Dnipro Jewish Community under the leadership of Chief Rabbi Shmuel Kaminezki.”
