Counting the Omer at Beit Tzindlicht

At the Beit Tzindlicht Children’s Educational Center, children are learning about the traditions of counting the Omer and the special period between the holidays of Passover—when the Jewish people left Egypt—and Shavuot—when the Torah was given to the Jewish people, a pivotal event in human history.

The children learned about the importance of the daily Omer count, the customs that accompanied it during the time of the Beit HaMikdash, and how we perform this mitzvah today and why it remains significant. Under the guidance of their educators, the children conduct “Sefirat HaOmer” every day, counting each day according to Jewish tradition.

“The children are truly excited to take part in this meaningful daily ritual,” says preschool teacher Malka Averbuch. “They were especially captivated by the stories of Rabbi Akiva that we shared in connection with this period in Jewish life.”

The event was held with the support of the Jewish Community of Dnipro.
