A large-scale and truly inspiring celebration of the Day of Didan Notzach took place at the Children’s Educational Center “Beit Zindlicht,” the leading preschool institution of the Dnipro Jewish Community, conducted in the format of a grand celebration with a children’s farbrengen (Chassidic gathering).
During the celebration, the pupils of “Beit Zindlicht” actively participated in various activities related to a respectful and careful attitude towards the Jewish book. The children made bookmarks for books, helped repair and restore books, learning to perceive them not as ordinary objects but as carriers of holiness and Jewish knowledge. The little ones listened with interest to the story about the history and meaning of the Day of Didan Notzach, and later prepared and presented a small performance, experiencing these ideas through creativity and joint action.
A particularly joyous moment of the celebration was the presentation of the books “My First Siddur.” These books became not just a gift but an important step towards forming in children a love for Jewish prayer and sacred texts. At the conclusion of the farbrengen, the children rejoiced, sang, and danced, as is customary on the Day of Didan Notzach, expressing sincere joy for the Torah and the feeling of a holiday that unites both adults and children.
“It is very important that children, already from preschool age, become acquainted with such significant dates, understand the value of holy Jewish books, and learn to rejoice in the Torah,” noted the kindergarten teacher, Naomi Chaya Yavorska. “The directive to have Jewish books at home and live with them in daily life is part of one of the Mivtzoim campaigns initiated by the Lubavitcher Rebbe, who emphasized that a Jewish book should be a natural component of every Jewish home. Holding such a profound and joyous holiday was made possible thanks to the support of the united and cohesive Dnipro Jewish Kehillah under the leadership of its Rav, Shmuel Kaminezki.”
