Following the completion of significant repairs and infrastructure upgrades at the Beit Zindlicht Children’s Educational Center, the main preschool institution of the Dnipro Jewish Community, a major and important event took place on the last day of summer — an Open House Day.
The teachers and administration of Beit Zindlicht warmly welcomed the children who returned to the renovated kindergarten after the August break, especially those visiting for the first time and beginning their journey of Jewish upbringing and education. The children and their parents were introduced to the refurbished group rooms and other features of the complex, and learned about the rules and traditions of Beit Zindlicht, which opened its doors over twenty years ago thanks to the initiative of the renowned philanthropist and patron Viktor Mykhailovych Pinchuk. The center was named in honor of his grandparents, the esteemed Fanny and Yosyp Zindlicht, and has become a pride not only of the Dnipro Jewish Community but also a flagship of Jewish preschool education throughout Ukraine.
Both the little ones and the adults were sincerely greeted by the director of Beit Zindlicht, Rebbetzin Risha Gurevich, who emphasized the importance of traditions in raising a harmonious individual who, from an early age, gains a proper understanding of values and a strong spiritual-moral foundation.
For all attendees, a shofar-blowing ceremony was held, its solemn sounds intended to awaken in every soul a striving for self-improvement and preparation for Rosh HaShanah. The shofar-blowing ceremony in all groups was conducted by Rabbi Shlomo Segal.
“We paid special attention to families who brought their children to kindergarten for the first time. We explained the adaptation process, the nuances of introducing a child to socialization, the importance of creative and ongoing collaboration between teachers and parents, and how this process is structured in our preschool institution,” noted Rebbetzin Risha Gurevich, director of Beit Zindlicht. “For both us and the parents, this was a very joyful and exciting day, and we continue to express our gratitude to the Dnipro Jewish Community and its Chief Rabbi Shmuel Kaminezki for the opportunity to raise children in such wonderful conditions and to give them our love and care.”
