Preparation for the Shavuot Holiday at Beit Zindlicht

On the eve of the Shavuot holiday, the “Beit Zindlicht” Children’s Educational Center, the leading early childhood institution of the Dnipro Jewish Community, carefully prepared for one of the most important holidays of the Jewish calendar, dedicated to the Giving of the Torah.

During the preparations, the children became acquainted with the traditions of Shavuot and learned about the meaning and customs of the holiday in a manner accessible to their age. Interactive lessons using various thematic attributes were organized for the students, helping to make the introduction to the holiday traditions more vivid and engaging.

The youngest students took part in a special practical program, during which they prepared a milkshake and decorated the Torah with flowers, becoming familiar with the traditions of the holiday through creative activity and play.

Also on the eve of Shavuot, the children became acquainted with the customs of the festive dairy meal and were able to taste dairy ice cream, which was part of their overall immersion in the atmosphere of the approaching holiday.

“Preparation for Shavuot always generates great interest among the children, as they not only learn about the traditions but also have the opportunity to experience them through practical activities, creativity, and shared participation,” noted kindergarten educator Naomi Chaya Yavorska. “It is important to us that the children not only gain new knowledge but also prepare to practically fulfill the traditions. It is very important that together with their parents they go to the synagogue and hear the Ten Commandments, as this holds special significance for every Jewish child. Thorough preparation for holidays is an important part of Jewish education, which we can carry out thanks to the support of the united and cohesive Dnipro Jewish Community under the leadership of Chief Rabbi Shmuel Kaminezki.”
