Each week at the Beit Tzindlicht Children’s Educational Center (Municipal Preschool Institution [nursery-kindergarten] No. 115 of the Dnipro City Council) is dedicated to a special topic, which becomes the focus of various lessons, activities, developmental games, and competitions.
This week’s main topic was emotions and the importance of expressing them oneself and understanding them in others. Music lessons were dedicated to this theme—children learned to recognize emotions in music and lyrics. It was even discussed during physical education, and became a subject of role-playing games and conversations.
“It’s very important for children not only to feel but also to be aware of their emotional state and their feelings,” says Natalia Proshchenko, the head of the kindergarten. “Even more important is teaching them to understand others’ emotions, to develop empathy and respect toward other children and adults. This is a key part of the complex process of raising a well-rounded person.”
The institution operates with the support of the Jewish Community of Dnipro.
