The latest men’s session of the “Menorah Community” youth project of the Jewish Community of Dnipro — a growing initiative thanks to the efforts of the Zislin family — focused on the weekly Torah portion Shelach and the modern relevance of the story of the scouts sent to Canaan.
The session was led by Rabbi Reuven Kaminezki, emissary of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, who thoroughly explained all aspects of the scouts’ mission — why they went, what their critical mistake was, and how it led to serious consequences for the entire Jewish people. But the main focus was on the lessons we can learn today and apply to our own circumstances, because the Torah is eternally relevant and always provides answers to the questions humanity faces in every moment.
“It was not only informative, but truly heartfelt,” said Levi Zislin, director of the Menorah Community project. “We discussed all kinds of topics, laughed, had a great time — and we also fulfilled the mitzvah of tefillin together, filling the day with meaning and light.”
