Hanukkah: A Time for Good Deeds in the “Menorah Community” Youth Project

Traditionally, every Hanukkah, the “Menorah Community” youth project of the Jewish Community of Dnipro, which is actively developing thanks to the Zislin family, holds a special event to promote good deeds in honor of the holiday and to highlight the project’s interaction and integration with other institutions of the united and close-knit Jewish Community of Dnipro.

“Menorah Community” project participants organize two large Hanukkah farbrengens for children attending boarding schools of the Jewish Community of Dnipro – “Bayit Le-Banim” for boys and “Bayit Le-Banot” for girls. Not only do they provide refreshments, but their direct participation, warm words, and sincere care and attention create a unique holiday atmosphere, which is very important for children whose family is a loving and friendly Jewish community.

During Hanukkah, “Menorah Community” members also make a point of visiting the “Beit Baruch” Home for the Elderly, bringing residents Hanukkah treats and participating in festive events, helping the elderly feel a sense of family comfort and care—especially important during this holiday, which fills the world with the light of unity and joy.

“This Hanukkah event is, above all, about care, attention, and the light that is important to share,” says “Menorah Community” project director Levi Zislin. “Our project participants, surrounded by the care and concern of our community, strive to ensure that the light of Hanukkah warms everyone—where it is most needed, in the souls of children and the elderly. In this way, we unite the different generations of our community, from the past to the future.”
