The topic of the latest men’s session in the “Menorah Community” youth project of the Dnipro Jewish Community, which is actively developing thanks to the efforts of the Zislin family, was the question of the right to revenge and the feeling of vindictiveness in light of the principles of Jewish tradition and the values of Judaism.
This lesson was led by the Deputy Secretary of the Dnipro Rabbinical Court, Reb Avraham Yosef Yitzchak Karshenbaum, who dedicated the session to exploring various aspects of this complex yet extremely important topic, as well as the positions outlined in both sacred Jewish texts and the works of prominent sages and rabbis who have examined the issue of revenge from different perspectives. Following a lively discussion on the session’s topic, a celebration was held for the birthday honorees who are celebrating their birthdays this month.
“The Torah teaches us that the desire for revenge is a natural human reaction, but the Almighty calls us to rise above this level, as revenge does not bring true satisfaction; it only prolongs pain and destruction,” noted Levi Zislin, head of the “Menorah Community” project. “Such sessions are very important for young people: they shape not only their worldview but also determine many practical actions. We are deeply grateful for the opportunity to carry out this work thanks to the Dnipro Jewish Community and its Chief Rabbi, Shmuel Kaminezki.”
