A special men’s study session dedicated to the approaching holiday of Rosh Hashanah took place within the “Menorah Community” youth project of the Dnipro Jewish Community, which is actively developing thanks to the efforts of the Zislin family.
The lesson, focused on the laws, customs, and preparation for the New Year according to the Jewish calendar, was led by one of the leading instructors of “Menorah Community,” the deputy secretary of the Dnipro rabbinical court, Rabbi Itzhak Karshenbaum. He paid special attention to the importance of not only repentance and correcting one’s behavior before the Almighty but also to the paramount necessity of restoring proper relationships between people and rectifying mistakes in interpersonal communication.
As is customary in the days of the month of Elul, Levi Zislin blew the shofar for all present, and all the men were able to fulfill the commandment of laying Tefillin. Furthermore, this gathering celebrated the birthday of the beloved teacher, Rabbi Itzhak Karshenbaum, and one of the active participants of “Menorah Community,” Nathan Khodorovsky.
“We talked about Rosh Hashanah—the day the new Jewish year begins—and Rabbi Itzhak shared crucial knowledge about the laws and customs of this holiday, emphasizing how important it is not only to ask forgiveness from the Almighty but also to mend relationships with the people around us,” noted Levi Zislin, head of the “Menorah Community” project. “It was truly interesting and captivating; everyone was able to discover something new and important for themselves ahead of the upcoming holidays.”
