In the youth project “Menorah Community” of the Jewish Community of Dnipro, which is realized by the Zislin family, a deep and rich lesson dedicated to the holiday of Pesach and the weekly Torah chapter “Tzav” was held in the pre-Easter week, which was conducted by Rabbi Reuven Kaminezki.
The project participants studied in detail the essence of Pesach – not only as a historical event, but also as an actual spiritual experience, for the holiday of the Exodus from Egypt teaches us the importance of freedom – not only physical, but above all, inner freedom. Through careful preparation for the holiday, cleansing the house of hametz, we symbolically free ourselves from unnecessary things and learn to be more conscious. During the class, the project participants studied why the Seder – a special evening during which we retell the story of the Exodus, feeling a living connection with the generations of our ancestors – is central to the celebration.
The class paid special attention to the weekly chapter of Tzav, which continues the theme of service in the Mishkan. It emphasizes the importance of constancy: the fire on the altar must burn without interruption – it reminds us of the need for constant spiritual work and inner fire, which should not be extinguished. Also discussed was the role of the kohen – the priests – as bearers of spiritual responsibility, and how their service inspires each of us to strive for holiness in our daily lives.
“The lesson reminded us that preparing for Pesach is not just about cleaning and cooking, but about inner transformation,” noted Levi Zislin, Menorah Community Project Manager, “and the weekly chapter of Tzav teaches us to be persistent and consistent in our pursuit of spiritual growth.”
