The educational part of the project Jewish Dnipro: Memory, Identity, Community” project, implemented with the support of JDC Ukraine, began with an unforgettable tour of the Menorah Cultural and Business Center.
“For the participants, it was not just an opportunity to take spectacular photos against the backdrop of the majestic Grand Hall or the panorama of the city from the 18th floor. It was a unique chance to dive deeper into the history and culture of the Jewish community of Dnipro,“ says Alyona Kolpina, director of the Hillel JCC, ”We learned about the history of the Menorah, its architectural features and the symbolism embedded in every detail of the building. We visited the Golden Rose Synagogue, where we visited both the main hall and the women’s gallery. In addition, we toured the building of the merchant David Pchelkin, a true architectural masterpiece that impresses with its sophistication. Particular attention was paid to the traditions and spiritual values that this unique location preserves.
This trip allowed us not only to see the iconic sites, but also to feel the unique spirit of Jewish history and culture that has shaped Dnipro for centuries. Each participant gained an invaluable experience that will help them better understand the heritage of the Jewish community and its contribution to the development of the city.
There are even more interesting events, meetings, and discoveries ahead! Join our events, follow our announcements, and together we will open new pages in the Jewish history of Dnipro.
