A Grand Women’s Farbrengen for the Holiday of Shavuot

In the warm and welcoming home of Rebbetzin Dina Stambler — emissary of the Lubavitcher Rebbe and wife of Chief Rabbi of Kamianske, Levi Stambler — a grand farbrengen was held for female activists of the Jewish women’s movement and fellow emissaries of the Lubavitcher Rebbe working in the Dnipro Jewish community.

Over thirty women participated in this vibrant and heartfelt gathering, filled with true Yiddishkeit and profound Chassidic meaning. The hostess, Rebbetzin Dina Stambler, shared moving stories connected to the Baal Shem Tov, the founder of Chassidism, whose soul ascended during the days of Shavuot. She emphasized that the initiator and main organizer of the event was her daughter, Chana Stambler, who devoted much effort to making the evening truly special.

Around beautifully set tables and in a festive atmosphere during the traditional Shavuot dairy meal, Chana Stambler delivered a talk dedicated to the role of women in the holiday. She highlighted the unique feminine influence on the events of the Giving of the Torah, emphasizing the active role and agency of Jewish women in shaping key moments of world history. Chana also delved into the deeper meanings of the holiday — such as why the Torah was given in the desert rather than in the Land of Israel or Egypt, and how this choice was deeply purposeful.

One of the most memorable parts of the evening was an engaging game prepared by Chana and her sisters. Two teams of 14 women each received a letter, and the rest cheered them on. The goal was to answer questions quickly and form a word before the opposing team, earning points through knowledge, teamwork, mutual support, and enthusiasm.

“This was a wonderful event — fun and inspiring, full of learning and emotion,” said Rivka Lazareva, a women’s movement activist in Dnipro. “Each of us felt like a jewel in a royal crown. We were surrounded by care and warmth and received a huge boost of energy ahead of the holiday. We’ll remember this day and its Chassidic unity for a long time.”

All the participants received Shavuot gifts — kosher dairy treats. Rebbetzin Dina Stambler encouraged everyone to take not only for themselves but also for their families and friends, to spread the word about the upcoming Shavuot and invite as many Jews as possible to attend the reading of the Ten Commandments and take part in this most important event.
