On the concluding evening of the eight-day holiday of Hanukkah, a warm meeting with guests took place at the “Bait leBanim” boarding school, a unique social institution of the Dnipro Jewish Community where boys who need special care, family coziness, attention, and warmth live and study. The guests brought special Hanukkah gifts for the children.
On this evening, the “Bait leBanim” boarding school was visited by the Chertok, Markov, and Horydko families. The meeting took place in a wonderful atmosphere illuminated by the light of Hanukkah candles, and the stories, gifts, and conversation created a truly magical evening for the children, which became a bright conclusion to the holiday.
“This Hanukkah, we had many visits from our friends who came to us, and the holiday turned out to be very home-like and traditional. This can be considered a true Hanukkah miracle,” says the head of the “Bait leBanim” boarding school, Rabbi David Vaskovsky. “Moreover, the boys actively participated in community events, helped during the ceremonial Hanukkiah lightings at ‘Menorah,’ joined the ‘Mivtzoim Hanukkah-5786’ campaign, and were among the most active at the city celebration on Heroes of the Maidan Square. We are very happy that we made our contribution to the wonderful Hanukkah of our dear and beloved Dnipro Jewish Kehillah under the leadership of its Rav, Shmuel Kaminezki.”
