A Memorial Ceremony was held at the Jewish Lyceum in honor of the Jews of Dnipro who perished during the Holocaust.

A solemn Memorial Ceremony took place at the Levi Yitzchak Schneerson Jewish Lyceum No. 144, a leading educational institution of the Jewish Community of Dnipro. The event was dedicated to the 84th anniversary of the beginning of the mass extermination of the Jews of Dnipro by the Nazi occupiers during World War II.

The school-wide event was prepared and conducted by members of the student self-government organization “SLESH.” Subsequently, during extracurricular activities and educational hours, the lyceum students discussed the tragic events of those years and, as a sign of remembrance, created their own creative works with Jewish symbols – candles, Stars of David, and flowers of peace.

“More than eight decades have passed, but the pain of this tragedy still lives in the heart of our city. We remember those innocently killed during the Holocaust and bow our heads to their blessed memory,” said Tetyana Sirotkina, Deputy Director of the lyceum. “It is especially important that this event was prepared by the members of ‘SLESH’ themselves, who, with their words, poetry, and heartfelt performances, were able to touch the children’s hearts.”
