Special classes are organized for the pupils of the boarding house “Bayt leBanim-Mironova” in the psychological support center “Or Shalom” at the YCC “Solomonika”. The classes are held weekly with an experienced psychologist and game practitioner.
“It is very important for children in the process of growing up to learn methods of solving psychological difficulties,” says Or Shalom director Natalia Medvedeva, “especially important for children who live in a boarding house and spend a lot of time in yeshiva classes. In a playful way we teach them how to build communication, resolve disputes, how to be friends and support each other, even teach them financial literacy and other useful skills for successful socialization in the difficult puberty period. The classes are conducted by one of our best specialists, Mrs. Irina Doroshenko, a qualified psychologist and psychotherapist, an experienced game practitioner”.
The special program of psychological help for the pupils of the boarding house “Bait LeBanim-Mironova” was organized on the initiative of the director of educational work of the boarding house David Vaskovsky and is designed for the whole school year. “It is very important for the adaptation of children in the outside world, – says David Vaskovsky, – in the center “Or Shalom” treated us with great attention and care – there is a special program for younger children, there is for middle school age. The children like to attend the classes very much, and we can see how the skills acquired while working with the psychologist are positively reflected in the educational process. Mrs. Irina Doroshenko very competently and with great tact takes into account the specifics of our children’s education and integrates psychological practices with Jewish traditions and the world of Yiddishkeit”.
