On the days of Chol HaMoed Sukkos, Rebbetzin Chana Kaminezki prepared and conducted a special women’s class in one of the festive sukkos of the Jewish Community of Dnipro. The rich and meaningful class was dedicated to the importance of observing the mitzvos of Sukkos, the unity of the Jewish people, and the special significance that the Lubavitcher Rebbe placed on the proper fulfillment of the traditions and mitzvos of the holiday by Jews in all countries of the world.
A special and very personal theme of the class was Rebbetzin Chana Kaminezki’s account of her father, Avraham Levi Lipsker, an eminent rabbi, a wonderful chassid, and an emissary of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, whose soul recently departed from the material world. Rebbetzin Chana shared with the participants her memories of her father, his service, and his devotion to the ideals of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, and the entire class and the joint fulfillment of mitzvos became an event in honor of the elevation of his soul.
Rebbetzin Chana’s regular assistants helped conduct the class, translating the texts from Hebrew, thanks to which the participants were able to become more deeply acquainted with the sources and discuss their content together.
Holding the class specifically in the sukkah made it possible to combine the study of Torah with the direct fulfillment of the most important mitzvos of the holiday. All the women present fulfilled the mitzvah of the four species of plants – “netilas lulav,” as well as the mitzvah of “leishev ba-sukkah” – dwelling in the sukkah, which was accompanied by delicious kosher refreshments. Therefore, the gathering became not only a rich class but also a joyful, inspiring event in which the study of Jewish tradition was naturally continued by its practical application.
“Weekly Torah classes for women are a very important part of our community’s life, for they help us reveal the profound spiritual meanings of the Torah and apply the principles and values of Jewish tradition in everyday life,” noted Rebbetzin Chana Kaminezki. “This class was special for me, and I was very glad to conduct it specifically in the festive sukkah and to see with what inspiration and awareness the women study Torah and fulfill the mitzvos of Sukkos, as is customary in the united and cohesive Jewish Community of Dnipro under the leadership of Chief Rabbi Shmuel Kaminezki.”
