All-Ukrainian Recognition of Expertise: Jewish Lyceum Educator Becomes Author of NUS Course

At the Levi Yitzchak Schneerson Jewish Lyceum No. 144, the leading educational institution of the Dnipro Jewish Community, a significant professional milestone was celebrated: computer science teacher Olha Borysenko has contributed to the development of the New Ukrainian School (NUS) reform as an expert and author of educational content for the large-scale all-Ukrainian project “Osvitoria.”

The project is implemented within the framework of the #MYRPUA resilience program with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, UNESCO, and Education Cannot Wait. It aims to support modern educational approaches, integrate innovative methodologies, and develop a professional community of educators throughout the country.

As part of this initiative, Olha Borysenko authored a course for computer science education, presenting the topic “Computer Science+: How Interdisciplinary Integration Works.” In this course, she synthesized her own pedagogical experience and modern approaches to combining computer science with other academic disciplines.

The educator completed the full cycle of creating an educational product—developing a detailed lesson scenario, creating a system of knowledge assessment tasks, and participating in the filming of video lessons, sharing her experience with thousands of teachers across Ukraine. The resulting professional development program will help teachers of grades 5-6 master new NUS approaches and implement interdisciplinary integration into their daily teaching practice.

“We are sincerely proud that our educator’s expertise has received recognition at the all-Ukrainian level,” said Lyceum Principal Olena Krasnova. “Olha Borysenko’s participation in this national project testifies to the high professional level of our teaching staff and confirms that the experience of the Dnipro Jewish Lyceum is becoming part of nationwide educational changes and reforms.”
