Within the educational project “Tikun Olam” of the Dnipro Jewish Community, which operates in the spirit of the “Bnei Noach” (Noahides) movement, a festive event dedicated to the approaching holiday of Hanukkah took place. Although the holiday itself had not yet arrived, its light and special atmosphere were already felt thanks to the participants’ preparations and the generally elevated mood of the meeting.
The head of the “Tikun Olam” project, Chagit Manuilova, welcomed the participants on the upcoming Hanukkah and shared the Hanukkah story, concluding her speech with the thought that the most important candle is a person’s heart. Reb David Manuilov told the participants about the spiritual meanings of the holiday, after which a lively discussion took place. Questions were asked freely and with interest, and the lecturer’s detailed answers contributed to the active involvement of all present in the conversation about the significance of Hanukkah and its values.
The musical part of the meeting was a gift from Valeriy Litman and Albert Shevchenko, who prepared a vibrant Hanukkah concert program for the participants, becoming an important emotional highlight of the evening. The participants joyfully noted that the event took place in a warm, friendly atmosphere, was interesting, substantive, and truly festive, thanking everyone who contributed to its organization and execution.
Special words of gratitude were addressed to the active participant of the “Tikun Olam” project, Natalia Sukhanova, whose interest in Judaism, history, and traditions of the Jewish people led her to participate in the women’s organization “Project Kesher.” It was thanks to the participation of “Project Kesher” and Natalia Sukhanova that this Hanukkah event could take place. At the conclusion of the meeting, each participant received a small souvenir brought by Chagit Manuilova from Israel.
“The meeting on the eve of Hanukkah passed with great spiritual uplift, and we are very glad that even before the onset of the holiday, we participated in spreading the news of the miracle and contributed to the multiplication of spiritual light,” says the head of “Tikun Olam,” Chagit Manuilova. “For the participants of the project, such meetings and events are extremely important, and we are deeply grateful for the opportunity to hold them to our native Dnipro Jewish Community under the leadership of Chief Rabbi Shmuel Kaminezki.”
