We are living in a special time. The three weeks between the 17th of Tammuz and the 9th of Av — known as Bein ha-Metzarim — are not just a period on the calendar. They are a time for deep inner reflection on loss, and at the same time, a journey toward healing. These are days when the Jewish people remember the destruction of the Temple, the exile, and all that was lost. But they are also days of hope — because the very act of mourning is an expression of memory, and memory itself is a form of reconnection.
And in this period, the teachings of the Lubavitcher Rebbe are as relevant as ever. The Rebbe did not speak only of the pain of destruction — he taught how to discover within every sorrow the seeds of renewal. His words awaken not just emotion, but responsibility: not to wait passively for redemption, but to become part of it — through Torah study, acts of kindness, and inner spiritual growth.
We are pleased to share with our readers a special talk by the Rebbe on the period of Bein ha-Metzarim, translated and published by the international educational network “Kolel Torah” with the support of the “Meromim” Foundation.
