Bris Milah in the Futerfas Family!

A moving circumcision ceremony – a bris milah – for the son of esteemed Rabbi Shneur Zalman Futerfas and his wife Yehudis took place in the “Menorah Ballroom,” the celebration hall of the Dnipro Jewish Community.

The honored role of kvatterim – the couple who brings the baby into the room – was given to members of the Glick family.

A unique Letter of Blessing from the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Menachem Mendel Schneerson, which the baby’s father had received at his own bris milah, was read by the baby’s uncle, Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Glick, with its translation delivered by Reb Zeilig Brez.

The esteemed community member Reb Nathan Zolotarevsky was invited to place the baby on the chair of Elijah the Prophet, and Rabbi Berl Lipsker lifted the boy from the chair and handed him to his father.

The honored role of the seated sandak (the one who holds the baby during the circumcision) was performed by the baby’s grandfather, Chief Rabbi of Dnipro Shmuel Kaminezki, who also served as the standing sandak (the one who holds the child during the naming ceremony).

The circumcision ceremony was performed by the Chief Mohel of Ukraine and Moldova, representative of the international organization “Bris Yosef Yitzchak,” Rabbi Yaakov Gaysinovich, assisted by physician Andriy Kirichenko.

The baby’s uncle, Rabbi Reuven Kaminezki, was invited to recite the blessing and announce the baby’s name, proclaiming – Ze’ev.

All those present, responding “amen” to the blessings recited during the ceremony, wished the young Ze’ev that just as he has entered the Covenant of Avraham, so too may he go on to Torah, Chuppah, and good deeds.
Immediately following the ceremony, a festive seudas mitzvah – a commandment meal – was held, participation in which is considered a special merit.

The Dnipro Jewish Community and our website sincerely congratulate Rabbi Shneur Zalman and Rebbetzin Yehudis Futerfas on the bris milah of their son Ze’ev, and wish that the boy grow healthy and happy, bring much joy to his parents and his entire large family, and go on to Torah, Chuppah, and good deeds.

Mazl Tov!
