Brit Milah in the Segal Family!

A heartfelt brit milah ceremony took place in the Menorah Ballroom, the celebration hall of the Jewish Community of Dnipro, for the newborn son of esteemed Rabbi Shlomo Segal and his wife, Rebbetzin Chana.

The honored role of kvaters—the couple who bring the baby into the room—was given to the Lieberman family.

A unique blessing letter from the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Menachem Mendel Schneerson, which the father, Reb Shlomo, received at his own brit milah, was read aloud by Rabbi Menachem Mendel Feldman, with a Russian translation delivered by community trustee Reb Natan Zolotarevsky.

Reb Zelig Brez was called up to place the baby on the chair of Elijah the Prophet, and Rabbi Eliyahu Heifer then lifted the child from the chair and handed him to the father.

The honored role of sitting sandak (the one who holds the baby during the circumcision) was performed by Chief Rabbi of Dnipro and the region, Shmuel Kaminezki, who also served as the standing sandak (who holds the baby when his name is announced).

The brit milah was carried out by Rabbi Yaakov Gaysinovich, the chief mohel of Ukraine and Moldova and representative of the international organization “Brit Yosef Yitzchak,” with assistance from Rabbi Reuven Milman.

Rabbi Reuven Kaminezki was called upon to recite the blessings and proclaim the baby’s name—Dov-Ber.

All those present responded to the blessings with heartfelt wishes for young Dov-Ber, that just as he entered the covenant of Avraham, so may he grow to embrace Torah, Сhuppah, and good deeds.

Immediately following the ceremony, a mitzvah feast (Seudat Mitzvah) took place — participation in which is considered a special merit.

The Jewish community and our website warmly congratulate Rabbi Shlomo and Rebbetzin Chana Segal on the brit milah of their son Dov-Ber, and wish for him to grow up healthy and joyful, bringing much nachas to his parents, and to walk the path of Torah, chuppah, and good deeds.

Mazl Tov!
