In the main prayer hall of the Central Synagogue “Golden Rose,” a Brit Milah ceremony was held for the son of Rabbi Schneur Zalman Shikula and his wife Adel.
The honorable role of kvatters — the couple who brings the baby into the room — was entrusted to the Smiliansky family.
To place the child on the Chair of Elijah, Rabbi Meir Tzvi Stambler, Chairman of the FJCU Council, was called upon. Lifting the baby was performed by the sofer of the National Sofer Center, Rabbi Meir Stambler.
To read the blessing letter from the Lubavitcher Rebbe Menachem Mendel Schneerson, Rabbi Moishe Leib Weber was invited, with the Russian translation provided by Rabbi Reuven Milman.
The central and most significant role of the seated sandak (the one holding the baby during the circumcision) was fulfilled by Rabbi Menachem Mendel Feldman.
The circumcision was carried out by the Chief Mohel of Ukraine and Moldova, Rabbi Yaakov Gaisinovich, assisted by Dr. Andrey Kirochenko.
The role of standing sandak (holding the child during the pronouncement of his name) was also performed by Rabbi Menachem Mendel Feldman.
To recite the blessings and proclaim the name of the newborn, Chief Rabbi of Dnipro and the region, Shmuel Kaminezki, was invited. He announced that the baby’s name is Zalman Tuvia.
All those present responded to the blessings during the ceremony with heartfelt wishes that young Zalman Tuvia, just as he entered the Covenant of Abraham, may also come to Torah, to Chuppah, and to good deeds.
Immediately following the ceremony, a special mitzvah meal — seudat mitzvah — was held, participation in which is considered a great merit.
The Jewish community of Dnipro and our website warmly congratulate Schneur Zalman and Adel Shikula on the Brit Milah of their son Zalman Tuvia, and wish the boy to grow up healthy and happy, to bring much joy to his parents, and to follow the path of Torah, Chuppah, and good deeds.
Mazl Tov!
