In the very center of Dnipro, life has been in full swing for several days in the day camp “PlayBack”, which was organized by the Jewish community of Dnipro. More than forty girls aged 6 to 14 are immersed in a special Yiddishkeit atmosphere, where every day is filled with warmth, joy and new impressions, where rest and development, creativity and tradition, fun and deep meaning are combined.
The camp is based at the International Humanitarian and Pedagogical Institute “Beit Chana”, where, under the attentive leadership of the director Leah Lazareva and the head counselor Sheyna Segal, a space has been created in which the girls feel like part of a large Jewish family.
All participants are divided into three groups, each of which has its own caring and talented madrichot. The first group is led by Adel Yandyuk, Nehama Netta Shabatova and Miriam Lazareva; the second – Zivi Smilyanskaya and Levana Opalikhina; the third – Rosa Nachshon and Malka Brez. Thanks to such support, each girl finds her place, friends and opportunities for self-expression in the camp.
The daily program here resembles a kaleidoscope of events: the morning begins with prayer and classes, then – fun games, creative workshops, exciting quests and meetings with interesting guests. Each event is another step towards knowing yourself and your roots.
“Our PlayBack camp is held under the motto “The power of women is our victory,” says Leah Lazareva, “we specially created a program that reveals this topic from all sides – from serious and meaningful classes to casual and fun games. And most importantly, thanks to the Jewish Community of Dnepr, our girls not only have a good time, but also feel like active participants in the Jewish life of the city.”
