At Levi Yitzchak Schneerson Jewish Lyceum No. 144, the leading educational institution of the Jewish Community of Dnipro, numerous Chanukah events for students of all ages took place during the holiday of Chanukah. These events, organized by the Jewish Studies Department, became an important part of the lyceum’s overall festive rhythm.
Among these events, the Chanukah Hebrew lessons held by Jewish Studies Department teachers Malka Feldman and Irina Kriger held a special place. They structured the lessons to combine language learning with practical activities, the joy of the holiday, and the conscious involvement of the students.
For students in grades five through eight, the lesson revolved around making Hanukkah donuts together, making them with their own hands. For students in grades nine through eleven, a fun Hanukkah game was organized, directly linked to the Hebrew lesson, reinforcing knowledge through movement, competition, and teamwork.
“It’s crucial for us to teach Hanukkah in a variety of ways, so that the meaning of the holiday is revealed through practice, play, and shared experiences,” said Aliza Rabinovich, head of the Jewish Studies Department. “These activities are becoming an important part of everything the lyceum does, and we sincerely thank the united and cohesive Jewish Community of Dnipro, under the leadership of its Chief Rabbi Shmuel Kaminezky, for their support and the atmosphere that makes this vibrant, joyful, and profound Jewish education possible.”
