A new episode in the weekly lesson series by Chief Rabbi of Dnipro Shmuel Kaminezki has been released on the “Menorah” YouTube channel, dedicated to the Torah portion of Behar-Bechukosai. In this lesson, the Rav addresses one of the most complex and compelling topics – why crises appear in a person’s life, and how the Torah suggests we view them.
The portion of Behar-Bechukosai speaks of a system of blessings and, at first glance, severe warnings that follow the violation of mitzvos. These texts are often perceived as punishment, yet in the traditional understanding, they reveal a much deeper meaning in the relationship between man and the Almighty.
In his explanation, Rav Shmuel Kaminezki emphasizes that even the harshest words of the Torah are not an expression of anger, but rather carry hidden care and are intended to awaken a person. Sometimes, the state of inner or outer “chaos” becomes a turning point that helps one emerge from spiritual stagnation and open the way to change.
Special attention is given to how challenges help a person overcome pride and become more open to blessing. Through examples from Jewish tradition, the Rav shows that pain and difficulties can become tools for growth if perceived as an opportunity for reevaluation and forward movement.
This episode will be of interest to anyone going through a difficult period, searching for meaning in what is happening, and wishing to see in challenging circumstances not only a trial but also a chance for inner renewal. Watch the new episode on the “Menorah” YouTube channel and share your reflections in the comments.
