Dnipro Volunteer Community project operating on the basis of Hillel JCC initiated and conducted the first round of Jewish Game marathon.
As the first round was held in February, its theme was the month of Shvat and its central holiday, the New Year of Trees. The participants of the first game were wards of the Chesed Menachem Charitable Foundation, and the game was held simultaneously in offline and online formats.
“We formed as many as three teams,” Victoria Opalenko, head of the Freilachs club, told our website, “two offline teams, ‘Hamsa’ and ‘Indestructible and Invincible,’ ten people each, and our online audience united into one team, ‘Jewish Leaders,’ which included over ninety people.”
The first task for the teams was to choose a slogan-motto for themselves: “Always, everywhere and everywhere, I want, can and will” became the motto of the team “Hamsa”, “Indestructible” performed under the slogan “Forward to the victory of Judaism”, and the online team chose lines from a once popular song – “We are so many, we can’t be matched”. The game was conducted by DVC coordinator Alina Gorokhova and volunteer Alya Pugacheva, who prepared a variety of tasks rebuses, crosswords, riddles, some of which had to be performed for time, some for the number of correct answers and in all of them it was necessary to show erudition, ingenuity and wit. Volunteer Artem Pirog acted as a moderator-judge, who followed the course of the competition and supported the participants. In musical breaks prepared by Victoria Opalenko, all participants sang popular Jewish songs using karaoke skills.
“The game was very tense with great enthusiasm and very pleased our wards, continues Victoria Opalenko, “this time the team “Hamsa” won, which we congratulate from the bottom of our hearts.
Dnipro Volunteer Community is already preparing a new round of Jewish Game project dedicated to Purim holiday. It is expected to take place on March 13 and this game will be held in “Bingo” format.
“Besides launching new projects, volunteers continue traditional events, among which a warm and hearty Shabbat takes a special place, and our activists Mykola Kucheryavy and Mira Sokolova make every meeting happy with a musical program including the most beautiful Shabbat piyyut, – said Alena Kolpina, director of JCCC “Hillel”, – Dnipro Volunteer Community does not stop at what has been achieved, there are more interesting initiatives and bright events ahead!”.
