Hackathon in the Jewish Lyceum – impressive results and winners

As our website already reported, the Jewish Lyceum of Dnieper #144 named after Levi-Itzhak Shneerson organized a city STEAM HACKATHON, in which teams from lyceums #67, #97, #111 and gymnasiums #74 and #128 also took part. The hackathon lasted two days and its results can be characterized as amazing.

“Six teams from educational institutions of the city. Dnipro had a wonderful opportunity to demonstrate their skills and abilities in solving complex technological tasks, using knowledge of various subjects, such as English language, biology, geography, informatics, Svetlana Romenskaya, the head teacher of the Jewish Lyceum, told our website, “the result of their diligent work was the creation of creative STEAM-products – working science quest-rooms. The teams designed and assembled their quest rooms during the first day of the hackathon, and the next day the teams, consisting of one participant from each team, together with the important members of the magazine went through these exciting quests.

Legends, STEM-tasks and design of the quest-rooms enchanted with their originality and creativity. The team of lyceum #74 bore the participants into the fantastic world of stalkers, lyceum #144 impressed with original ingredients and tasks of the factory of Villy Wonka, and lyceum #97 tried to get the participants lost in the detective agency of Sherlock Holmes. Gymnasium No. 128 conducted the commands with Taras’ stitches, showing that it is possible to study the life of Taras Shevchenko without end and even through the prism of such sciences as chemistry, physics and mathematics. Lyceum No. 67 “Dzherelo” gave the participants the opportunity to poker the ship “Primara” and stay alive, and Lyceum No. 111 offered a route to the mysteries of the Vichnyi Mist”.

The city Hackathon was highly appreciated by the leadership of the Jewish Lyceum of Dnipro. “STEAM HACKATHON has become a true holy day of science and creativity, where each participant could feel himself a true researcher and researcher, – emphasized the director of the Jewish Lyceum Elena Krasnova, – The event not only contributed to the development of scientific thinking and practical skills of education teachers, but also encouraged them to make new achievements and discoveries”.

The Hackathon jury, which included specialists from the professional development center “Osvitnya traektoriya”, the Department of Education of the Department of Humanitarian Policy of the City Council, the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Center for Scientific and Technical Creativity and Information Technologies for Students and directors of educational institutions that participated in the Hackathon.

Svetlana Romenskaya, deputy director of the Jewish Lyceum of Dnipro, informed our website about the jury’s decision: “As a result of the Hackathon, the team of Lyceum No. 144 won the victory for their quest room “Villy Wonka’s Factory”. The students received a cash prize and a certificate for visiting the quest room “X-ROOM”, for which we welcome them!
And the team of Lyceum № 111 received a sign “The best trips for the belief of students” for the room “Mysteries of the inner city” and also received as a gift a certificate for visiting the quest room “X-ROOM”.
All participants of the Hackathon: Lyceum No. 97, Gymnasium No. 74, Lyceum No. 67, Gymnasium No. 128 – received malted gifts and diplomas of participants. We salute all the participants and wish them further success!
