Today marks the 26th official celebration of “Social Worker’s Day” in Ukraine. This professional holiday was established by Decree No. 374/99 on April 13, 1999, signed by the second President of Ukraine, Leonid Kuchma, and its date was set as the first Sunday of November.
In the Dnipro Jewish Community, social work is one of the priority areas – thousands of people receive assistance and support from Jewish social institutions, including the “Beit Baruch” Elderly Home, the “Bait leBanim-Mironova” and “Bait leBanot” boarding homes for at-risk children, the “Maale” Educational Resource Center, and many others. Special programs also operate in all other Jewish structures – the “JMC” Jewish Medical Center, educational institutions, cultural centers, and Jewish revival projects.
A special place among social structures is held by the “Chesed Menachem” Charitable Foundation, which operates with the support of the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (“Joint”). For all its employees and volunteers, this day is a professional holiday.
The Dnipro Jewish Community and our website wholeheartedly congratulate all social workers of Jewish organizations and wish them robust health, great love for their charges and all people, patience, and understanding. May the Almighty bless them in all their good deeds, send peace, joy, and prosperity to their homes, and may their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren come to Torah, the marriage canopy, and good deeds!
Happy Holiday
